We have a real curiosity to keep experimenting and perfecting, so long as it’s a true expression of where we are. Under the direction of Chief Winemaker, John Kavanagh, our winemaking philosophy places a premium on the character of each vineyard. The Martinborough Terrace has 25m of ageing gravel soils around 2,500 years old that is unique and definitive for the varieties that we do well with.

Harmonious, lifted aromas full of tropical fruits, melon and nectarine are balanced by floral and herbal notes. The palate is bright, smoothly textured and dry, with a lovely even flow of fresh crisp fruits and an elegant lingering acidity. This wine will pair beautifully with herb crusted Snapper and couscous or an asparagus quiche.

Dry in style, our Riesling is a brilliant lime gold colour with fragrant aromas of honeysuckle, chalk & jasmine blossom. A rich palate with flavours of Meyer lemon & mandarin is balanced by a mineral acidity and a refreshing zingy finish. Try alongside beer battered fish and chips with mushy peas.

Made from hand-picked fruit, gently whole-bunch pressed, barrel fermented and ages for 10 months in French oak. Te Kairanga Chardonnay has hints of cashew, almond and ripe white peach. The palate is elegant, poised and rich making it a perfect pairing for white meat such as Coq au Vin, Pork or goats cheese soufflé.

Our Pinot Gris comes from our home vineyard. Full, rich, and smoothly textured, it offers aromas of lightly roasted cashews, pears, white peaches and a touch of quince. On the palate, a lovely even flow leads to a lingering finish with ripe pear, quince, nectarine in harmony with savoury flavours.

Light straw in colour, the Te Kairanga John Martin Chardonnay 2019 is refined and fragrant aromatics including ripe pear, yellow stone fruit and nuts with stony mineral characters lead to a deep, elegant palate. This deep, creamy mineral structure results in a luscious yet refined wine with a long, flowing finish. Best paired with tray baked chicken, butter beans, leeks and spinach.

A nod to pioneering Martinborough ‘runholder’ and Martinborough namesake John Martin, this Pinot Noir is sourced from our home vineyards planted on his original land holdings. Runholder Pinot Noir has complex notes of dark cherries that mingle with aromatic spices and classic Martinborough savoury, earthy notes, while the palate displays vibrant fruit flavours finishing with fine silky tannins.
